<p><span>On the initiative of eighteen forward-looking clinicians, IBRA was founded in Zurich, Switzerland on 25 September 2004. Exchange of professional knowledge, promotion of new scientific developments, engineering of the musculoskeletal system, coordinated multicentre research and highly specialized further training are the primary aims of IBRA.<br /><br /></span></p>

<p>The IBRA Research & Education Committee, in close collaboration with the IBRA Board of Directors, is concerned principally in evaluating, for financial support, research projects dealing with bone biology and the improvement or development of internal fixation devices for maxillofacials surgery and the surgery of upper and lower limbs. IBRA International Bone Research Association will consider for support only small grant proposals dealing exclusively with improvement and development of medical devices for internal fixation in the aforementioned clinical areas. <p>The worldwide network of IBRA training centers, which specialise in bone research and head and upper / lower limbs surgery, provides scholarship applicants with an interesting range of options.<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 15px;">Because training centers and their fellowship directors are autonomous from IBRA, the candidate is free to determine where his/her needs would best be addressed by contacting the training centers directly. <h2><strong><br /></strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Overview and goal of the IBRA Scholarship Programs</span></h2>
<p>IBRA offers three <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.ibra.net/ScholarshipPrograms" target="_self">Scholarship Program types</a></strong></span>. Partial financing of participation in international congresses is covered by program A. Program B and C focus on clinical/scientific residential training at a foreign host institution. Each program has a different focus and, accordingly, different requirements for applicants. Please read the information carefully and decide which of <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="https://www.ibra.net/ScholarshipPrograms" target="_self">the three programs</a></strong></span> meets your professional goals best.</p>
<p><span>The main goal of the residential training at an IBRA Training Center (Scholarship Program B and C) </span><span>is to promote individual career development by granting access to renowned surgeons and providing financial support for clinical training and/or research. <br /><br /></span><span>IBRA Training Centers have been selectively chosen for their ability to provide a broad clinical experience in the </span><span>treatment of patients whilst promoting exemplary research. </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="Training-Centers">All IBRA training centers can be found here</a>.</strong></span></p>
<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Professional requirements for receiving support</span><strong><br /></strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Medical license (MD or DMD and additionally for US only DO or DPM <span lang="EN-US">diploma or the equivalent</span>).</li>
<li>At least two years' postgraduate training or clinical experience in orthopedic or trauma surgery</li>
<li>If applicant is a resident in training: Letter of recommendation from current residency/fellowship director require</li>
<li>At minimum, the candidate must be an <a href="https://www.ibra.net/Membership" target="_blank">IBRA Basic Member</a></li>
<li>Candidate must be fluent in English (Cambridge B2 or equivalent) or have sound knowledge of the local language of the desired IBRA Training Center</li>
<li>
<div>No specific age limit (preference is given to younger colleagues)</div>

<li><strong style="font-size: 15px;">For the residential/scientific training at an IBRA Training Center (<a href="https://www.ibra.net/ScholarshipPrograms" target="_self">programs B and C</a>) the applicant must fulfil <span style="text-decoration: underline;">at least one</span> of the following criteria:<br /><br /></strong>1) Applicant holds an IBRA Full or Premium Membership (can be indicated in the application form)<br /><br />2) <span>Applicant is working in an IBRA Training Centers: <br /> Confirmation letter from the Training Center's Scholarship Director must be included with the <br /> application<br /><br /></span><span>3) Applicant has participated at an IBRA on-site course within the last 5 years (course certificate must be <br /> submitted with the application)<br /></span><br />4) Recommendation letter of an IBRA Full or Premium Member (accessible through our <a style="font-size: 15px;" href="https://www.ibra.net/members/" target="_blank">Member Area</a><span style="font-size: 15px;">) or <br /> an IBRA Training Center Scholarhip Director. The applicant must be known to the IBRA Member or <br /> Scholarship Director.</span></li>

<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Application Deadline</span></h2>
<p><span><span lang="EN-US">The deadline for all scholarship applications is <strong>January 31<sup>st</sup></strong> each year.<br />Please note: Candidates who have received funding for the IBRA Scholarship Program will not be considered in the immediate following year. Please wait one year before applying again.<br /><br /></span></span></p>
<div><span style="font-size: 21px; text-decoration-line: underline;">Scholarship application process</span></div>
<ol>
<li>Candidates submit all <strong><a href="https://www.ibra.net/ScholarshipPrograms" target="_blank">required application documents</a></strong> to the IBRA Administration Office until the application deadline of January 31. <span><strong>Candidates who do not meet the requirements will be rejected directly by the IBRA Administration Office. Incomplete applications will not be processed further. <span>Candidates who have received a scholarship will not be considered in case of a new application in the year after the scholarship was awarded. These applicants should wait one year before reapplying for a scholarship.</span></strong></span><br /><br /></li>
<li>The respective Research & Education Committee evaluates all applications received by the application deadline of January 31. <br /> <strong><br /></strong></li>
<li>The IBRA Administration Office informs all candidates about the Research & Education Committee’s decision (at latest by the end of March).<br /><br /><strong>For the residential/scientifc traning at an IBRA training center (programs B and C) only:</strong></li>
<li>Candidates who have received funding must then contact the IBRA Training Centers indicated on the application form according to the given priority. The following documents, must be sent with the request to the Fellowship Director of the Training Center:<br />- CV<br />- Confirmation letter of funding from IBRA<br />- Research Project (only program C)<br /><br /></li>
