The Department of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Hospital in Münster, Germany, is internationally acclaimed for excellence in clinical care, education, and scientific research. The clinic covers the whole range of oral and cranio-maxillofacial surgery, with special emphasis on:

  • orthognathic surgery
  • traumatology, plastic reconstructive surgery, microsurgery
  • oncology and tumor surgery
  • surgical sleep medicine
  • TMJ surgery
  • surgery of ARONJ
  • rare diseases with orofacial involvement
  • craniofacial malformations
  • implantology
  • esthetic surgery

 

The Clinic offers various special consulting sessions for patients with oral and cranio-maxillofacial diseases. The medical staff are committed to providing the highest level of patient care. The team plays a major role in interdepartmental collaborations with groups including neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, pathology, orthodontics, prosthetic dentistry, and the multidisciplinary cleft-palate team.

Main fields of research are:

  • Clinical studies in orthognathic surgery and implantology
  • Bone regeneration
  • Biomaterials for soft and hard tissues replacement
  • Angiogenesis
  • Oral implantology
  • OSA and upper airway stimulation
  • Clinical evaluation of cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies

 

The Regenerative Research Group is an internationally renowned team working in the fields of regenerative medicine with a focus on vascular basis of oral structures. The interdisciplinary team includes physicians, physicists, biologists, material scientists, and computer specialists. Research is conducted in close cooperation with various institutes of the Muenster University as well as with national and international groups working in this field.

Besides education of students of dentistry, students of medicine, and training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (residency), the Department offers various postgraduate training programs. 

 

Visiting doctors and fellows are welcome to participate actively and/or passively in all activities of the Department. Both short and long-term visits are possible. The training program will be individually arranged with the candidate. Submit application to:
