IBRA Institute Grant



The IBRA Institute Grants support structured, application‑oriented research projects conducted at the 
IBRA Institute. The program provides defined access to the Institute’s infrastructure to enable focused 
research activities within the scope of the IBRA Research & Education Committees (REC).


Program framework

The IBRA Institute provides access to:
  • facilities for applied musculoskeletal research
  • advanced imaging modalities (fluoroscopy, X‑ray, CT)
  • a fracture generation machine
  • access to fresh frozen specimens prepared to specification (incl. fractures)
  • technical and scientific on‑site support

Where appropriate, a separate grant request for Medartis implants may be made here.

Scope of supported projects

Projects are expected to address clearly defined research questions related to:
  • bony anatomy
  • fracture mechanisms
  • osteosynthesis treatment concepts
  • biomechanical aspects, provided no quantitative measurement protocols are required

Projects must be assigned to one of the following Research & Education Committees:

  • Upper Limb
  • Lower Limb
  • Craniomaxillofacial (CMF)


Grant structure

  • Up to three IBRA Institute Grants available (one per REC)
  • Total program funding: CHF 20,000
  • Approximate funding per project: CHF 6,700
Grant coverage includes:
  • specimen costs
  • use of IBRA Institute facilities and equipment
  • staff support
  • travel expenses of up to CHF 2,000 per project
 

Eligibility

The IBRA Institute Grants are exclusively open to IBRA Full and Premium Members.

 

Application process

IBRA Institute Grants are reviewed by the IBRA Research Director together with the IBRA Institute; 
additional expert input may be obtained if required.

  • application form (please download here)
  • contact details and CV of the applicant and any co‑applicants
  • a letter of motivation outlining relevant qualifications
  • a research plan including methodology and an estimated timeline
