The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein is a reference in quality of medical practice in treatments with cutting-edge technology and humanized care, as well as in expanding its borders with socially responsible actions and teaching and research activities.

The Orthopedic Center, which works as a headquarters for all HIAE, MDP, IIEP, IIRS, IIGC assistance areas, and Corporate. Its purpose is to manage all the Orthopedics fields by developing and implementing institutional protocols, indicator control, and development of strategic plans to promote continuous growth and improvement, in addition to managing innovative projects as well as the Second Medical Opinion on the Spine and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Project.

The Orthopedic Center actions are dedicated to promoting the patient's quality and safety, management of the clinical staff, social responsibility and sustainability, teaching, research, and innovation.

The Orthopedics department of the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein has been continually improving and consolidating as a global benchmark. The Orthopedic Center constantly seeks quality excellence by developing guidelines and establishing and improving managed protocols, in addition to refining processes in the different specialty care lines.

One of the center's highlights in 2015 was the implementation of managed care protocols for all patients that underwent Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction surgery, one of the most prevalent orthopedic surgeries. The Protocol seeks to comprehend the medical practice of our orthopedists in the performance of these surgeries so as to provide patients with institutional assurance regarding the best practices for knee surgery. Additionally, we started to perform outpatient care surgery for all simple knee arthroscopies with management of all cases.

Another remarkable innovation implemented by the Einstein's Orthopedics in 2015 was the opening of the orthopedics outpatient clinic for all our employees, with excellence of care in all orthopedic subareas.

At the same time, another line of action of the Orthopedic Center, in accordance with the international guidelines, refers to the start of suspension of antibiotics in 24-hours for all the patients that underwent Knee and hip arthroplasty.

Teaching and Research
The Einstein's Graduate Department has three advisors specialized in Orthopedics and, in 2015 it launched its Master's and Doctor's Degree Courses, which will further boost the research projects already conducted by the Hospital's Orthopedics department. Medical Residency has become stronger and graduated three orthopedists with the Einstein's seal of quality.

Orthopedics was defined as a strategic area to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein over 8 years ago and has grown at a fast pace since then.

The Orthopedic Center seeks to encourage and maintain the continuous striving for quality care from the clinical staff and multi-professional team. The Center management focuses on the patients and their safety and is based on the best scientific findings and technological innovations. Throughout 2015, several orthopedic goals aimed at improving the strategic Programs were reached. Patients who underwent spine, hip, and knee prosthesis surgeries and knee arthroscopies were monitored by multiprofessional healthcare teams following the treatment. The purpose was to assess their clinical progress and better monitor the patients by promoting more safety not only to patients but their families and all professionals directly or indirectly involved in orthopedic care, thus enhancing the patient's experience. In the coming years, other surgeries such as shoulder arthroscopies and cranio-maxillofacial surgeries will be managed, increasing the care range of this specialty.

Also within the scope of its care, the Orthopedic Center prioritizes a holistic health view through the integration of the institution's various areas, such as Medical Practice, Diagnostic Medicine, and Teaching and Research, in addition to having an excellent clinical staff supported by a specialized multi-professional team to help with the treatment of orthopedic patients.

At Einstein's Orthopedics, the initiatives are guided by positive actions, they break barriers and transform paradigms. Thus, in 2015, a review of the strategic goals for the coming years led the Orthopedic Center members to invest in teaching and research. The graduation of the Einstein's first Orthopedics and Traumatology Residency Class and our institution’s active participation in the graduate department.

Recognized by the patients, the Einstein's Orthopedics has been consolidated as a renowned and reliable specialty, which impels the continuing search for more excellence and strengthening of our brand.
