Laketown Orthopaedic Hospital

Koshigaya, Japan

Laketown Orthopaedic Hospital was established in 2017 to support patients with joint problems in the lower extremities. The hospital was founded by Director Kensuke Yasumura, MD, a former Associate Professor at Dokkyo Medical University. The hospital is located near the Dokkyo Medical University Saitama Medical Center and beside a large shopping mall in Koshigaya City. Koshigaya is situated in the northern suburb of Tokyo and is approximately 45 minutes from the Ginza district via subway. The surrounding area of the hospital is home to over 1 million residents.

From 2021, Professor Ozeki, the Immediate Past President of the Japanese Society for Surgery of Foot and former Professor and Chairman of the First Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dokkyo Medical University Saitama Medical Center, joined the hospital to create the Foot and Ankle Research Center. He has trained many fellows from across Asia who hope to learn about foot and ankle surgery. In addition, Dr. Ogawa, a consultant at the Saitama Medical Center, started to work at the facility as a specialist in sports medicine. 

This hospital will provide good opportunities to gain experience in the advanced treatment of sports injuries such as arthroscopic Brostrom procedures, minimally invasive anatomical ligament reconstruction using hamstrings tendon, and osteochondral graft for OCLT. Furthermore, trainees will be able to acquire experience in surgery for arthritic conditions of the hindfoot, midfoot, and forefoot deformities such as hallux valgus and Freiberg disease. Additionally, the hospital also manage pediatric problems such as clubfoot and vertical talus treatment.
