The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust  was formed on 1 April 2017. The trust runs three busy hospitals – Peterborough City HospitalHinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford and Rutland Hospital. Together they serve approximately 700,000 residents living in Cambridgeshire, South Lincolnshire and the neighbouring counties. The trust  orthopaedic department consists of 24 orthopaedic consultants working in subspecialty fields of foot and ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery. The trust provides level 2 trauma care supported by the major trauma centre at the neighbouring Addenbrookes hospital. We attract trainees from the east of England rotation.

The Foot and Ankle service is provided by 3 full time foot and ankle specialists and a 4th consultant combining foot and ankle and paediatric orthopaedics. The full range of elective foot and ankle services are provided with outpatient and operating sessions spread through the week including dedicated foot and ankle trauma services. Diabetic foot services are run in conjunction with the endocrinology and vascular teams.

Our upper limb service is provided by 3 full time hand surgery consultants, 3 full time shoulder consultants and a 7th consultant covering both areas. As with foot and ankle surgery the outpatient and elective services are spread through the week and dedicated trauma sessions are provided. Both the upper and lower limb services are further supported by plastic surgery.

The unit has built a reputation for high quality subspecialty services and has been recognised by our regional surgical trainees as an excellent training centre with several awards for trainer of the year in the last few years.
