With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our member Professor Dr. med. Alexej Barg in April 2022.

Professor Barg studied medicine at the universities of Münster (Germany), Vienna (Austria) and Basel (Switzerland). He then completed his residency and fellowship at various renowned institutions in Switzerland and the US. During his time as Head of the Foot & Ankle Unit at the University of Utah, Alexej Barg played an important role in establishing IBRA in the United States. With his exemplary dedication, unique creative power and passion for teaching and medical education, he has contributed greatly to IBRA's success as international faculty member in Europe and in the US. Two years ago, Professor Barg moved to Germany to head the Foot and Ankle Unit at the University of Hamburg. We are grateful for sharing our journey with him and will remember Alexei as ever present, very warm, caring and helpful. His fellow-members will honor him as an innovative and well-respected researcher, teacher, colleague, and friend. Alexej Barg will be deeply missed.
