In 2007, five hand surgeons fulfilled a dream they had dreamt about for years; creating ClimBA, an outpatient institution with three clear objectives: to treat hand and upper extremity problems in a friendly environment, to spread our knowledge among young surgeons, and to teach them to become consummate professionals.

Eleven years later, ClimBA is a well-established institution, recognized among its peers, and providing around 24,000 consultations yearly. In our two operating rooms, we also perform 2,500 outpatient surgeries involving a wide range of hand and upper extremity problems each year. Our founding members are Dr. Aldo Falco, Dr. Gabriel Clembosky, Dr. Carlos Lupotti, Dr. Alvaro Muratore, and Dr.  Christian Perrotto. Our professional staff totals 13 hand surgeons, and we are immersed in an organizational expansion that could double our work next year.  Our areas of surgical expertise include upper extremity trauma (from hand to shoulder); orthopedic pathology of this region; wrist, elbow and shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty; and rheumatoid arthritis, among others.

Reinforcing our teaching objectives, we have two annual fellows who have an option for a second year. Through our fellowship program, which includes clinical sessions, journal clubs, and paper writings, we have instructed 12 young orthopedic surgeons from different countries and many regions of Argentina. Our fellowship director, Dr. Gustavo Gomez Rodriguez, organizes all fellow activities and coordinates visiting fellows.  We have also created an Alumni Association, that allows us to establish a network for continuing education, case discussions, and social reunions.
