Goal of the Program
Scholars have the first-hand opportunity to exchange experiences with renowned clinicians in IBRA Training Centers. IBRA’s education program provides a platform for scientific exchange. The main goal of the IBRA Scholarship Program is to promote individual career development by providing financial support for clinical training and for research. IBRA training centers have been selectively chosen for their ability to provide a broad clinical experience in the treatment of patients whilst promoting exemplary research.

Professional requirements for receiving support
- Medical license (MD or a DMD diploma or the equivalent).
- No specific age limit (preference is given to younger collegues)
- Candidate must be fluent in English or have sound knowledge of the local language of the desired IBRA training center
- Before the final decision on awarding support is made, the candidate must be accepted to the scholarship program by the fellowship director of an IBRA training center.
- The candidate should have clear expectations as to how the scholarship will benefit his/her professional career.
- Only electronically filled out application forms will be accepted.
- Submission of all required application documents until the deadlines of January 10th and September 1st.
- All applications and requests must be in English
Application deadlines
The deadlines for all scholarship applications are January 10th and September 1st.
Scholarship program overview
Program A: Partial financing of participation in international congresses
Specific goal: Participation in international congresses
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 2000.- depending on congress spezifics
Requirements: Surgeons in training with complete applications
Expected outputs: Poster or abstract of presentation
Program B: Clinical residential visit to a foreign host institution
Specific goal: For clinical training such as learning a new surgical technique, including pre and postoperative management
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 5000.- depending on the duration of the scholarship
(CHF 4000.- for the scholar and CHF 1000.- for the IBRA training center).
Duration: 1 to 4 weeks
Requirements: Acceptance of an IBRA training center and complete application
Expected outputs: Case report/discussion and scholarship report
Program C: Scientific residential stay at a foreign host institution
Specific goal: This program combines clinical training with active participation in a research project.
Duration: 4 to 12 weeks
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 12'000, depending on the duration of the scholarship (CHF 10'000 for the scholar and CHF 2'000 for the IBRA training center)
Requirements: Unanimously agreed research project, acceptance of an IBRA training center and complete application
Expected outputs: Research contribution and scholarship report
The availability of inexpensive living arrangements and other questions regarding your possible stay, should be discussed with the person coordinating the IBRA scholarship at the specific IBRA training center.
