Program Overview


IBRA offers three program types. Each program has a different focus and, accordingly, different requirements for applicants. Please read the information carefully and decide which of the three programs meets your professional goals best.

Program A: Partial financing of participation in international congresses 

Specific goal: Participation in international congresses
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 2000.- depending on congress spezifics
Expected outputs: Poster or abstract of presentation


Application documents to be submitted:

  • Electronically completed application form
  • Curriculum Vitae in English
  • Relevant information about the congress
  • Titel and abstract of the planned presentation(s) or poster
  • Written acknowledgement by the scientific committee of the congress, confirming title and date of the presentation(s). 

    Please note: If the acknowledgement by the congress scientific committee is not available by the time of the scholarship application deadline, you may submit your application without it. In this case, however, we reserve the right to make a final confirmation of funding dependent on the confirmation of the scientific committee of the congress. The scholarship holder is obliged to submit the acceptance of their poster/presentation to the IBRA Administration Office no later than 2 months before the event.

Please note the following for programme B and C:

For the residential/scientific training at an IBRA Training Center (programs B and C) the applicant must fulfil at least one of the following criteria:
  1. Applicant holds an IBRA Full or Premium Membership (can be indicated in the application form)
  2. Applicant is working in an IBRA Training Centers: Confirmation letter from the Training Center's Scholarship Director must be included with the application
  3. Applicant has participated at an IBRA on-site course within the last 5 years (course certificate must be submitted with the application)
  4. Recommendation letter of an IBRA Full or Premium Member (accessible through our Member Area) or an IBRA Training Center Scholarhip Director. The applicant must be  known to the IBRA Member or Scholarship Director.

 


 

Program B: Clinical residential visit to a foreign host institution

Specific goal: For clinical training such as learning a new surgical technique, including pre and postoperative  management
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 5000.- depending on the duration of the scholarship (CHF 4000.- for the scholar and CHF 1000.- for the IBRA Training Center). 
Duration: 1 to 4 weeks
Expected outputs: Case report/discussion and scholarship report

 

Application documents to be submitted:

  • Electronically completed application form
  • Curriculum vitae in English
  • List of publications – publication list must be structured by: A. Original articles, B. Case reports / technical notes, C. Book chapters / proceedings, others (incl. monography), D. Abstracts
  • Letter(s) of recommendation
  • If resident in training: Letter of recommendation from current residency/fellowship director required
  • Copies of diploma

Program C: Scientific residential stay at a foreign host institution

Specific goal: This program combines clinical training with active participation in a research project.
Duration: 4 to 12 weeks
Sponsorship: Up to CHF 12'000, depending on the duration of the scholarship (CHF 10'000 for the scholar and CHF 2'000 for the IBRA Training Center)
Expected outputs:

  • Research contribution: retrospective study, literature review, case review, prospective study, technical note on particular procedure or other research formats
  • Scholarship report

Application documents to be submitted:
  • Electronically completed application form
  • Research project description (max. 5 pages):
    Content: outline the problem, state of the art in this field, past research of the applicant in this field, hypothesis, aim of the study, detailed research plan, time schedule, relevant literature.
    After the applicant has been approved funding by the IBRA Research & Education Committee the research project has to be agreed with the fellowship director of the chosen IBRA Training Center.
  • Abstract of the research project (max. 250 characters)
  • Curriculum vitae in English
  • List of publications – publication list must be structured by: A. Original articles, B. Case reports / technical notes, C.Book chapters / proceedings, others (incl. monography), D.Abstracts
  • Letter(s) of recommendation
  • If resident in training: Letter of recommendation from current residency/fellowship director required
  • Copies of diploma
